I was previewing some pictures from the circus this weekend that Sharmila sent to me, and I noticed that in Windows Photo Gallery, the pictures had a yellowish or sepia tint to them, but they were fine when opened with other programs. Some searching around led me to a solution. (more…)
What are you all doing to help get better mileage out of your vehicle? I have a 2001 Tundra, and I’m really starting to feel the crunch. I’m thinking of pulling the faceplate to reduce the draft and weight of the vehicle. If I need a tailgate, I’ll use one of those tailgate nets. I’m assuming it would do the trick.
The quick and dirty version -
1. Fill Up Smart: Fill your tank at the coolest time of the day - fuel is denser when it’s cool so you get more for your money.
2. Keep Your Car Clean - less wind resistance! (hey, it’s a little bit)
3. Check Your Tire Pressure - this is something I need to do. Under inflated tires take more energy to push down the road.
4. Change The Air Filter - just think of yourself trying to run down the street with a dirty air filter in front of your face rather than a clean one.
5. Replace Your Spark Plugs - Worn spark plugs can’t ignite the air/fuel mixture in your engine as effectively, resulting in more fuel used for a given amount of power produced.

I attended Microsoft’s HEROES happen {here} event in Phoenix today. I just wanted everyone to know that in Phoenix they gave away a (32-bit) copy of Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate along with the expected package.
Woohoo. Good enough excuse as any to wipe my laptop for a fresh O/S install. Not to look a gift horse in the mouth or anything, but I would have been even more excited had it been the 64-bit version.
And no…this isn’t an April Fool’s joke.
The keynote was a little dry. The content was good, it was just a little longer than it needed to be. I was able to catch the first two tracks of the Developer session and I must say that Rob Bagby always gives an entertaining and educational presentation.
Okay, so it’s been a while since I’ve updated my nVidia laptop drivers, so I figured I’d run another benchmark. Here are a few things I’ve done since the last benchmark. (more…)
